Engagement description:

Breville was a retainer client of Astounds and would frequently come to us with new ideas and initiatives aimed at improving the site.

Overview

For this project we were tasked with creating a new landing page for one of Breville’s exciting upcoming new ovens. This engagement was focused on showcasing a wide range of elements that made the oven so unique. Since Breville was the one to develop this project, they wanted to reuse any existing modules when possible to reduce development time.

Key points and goals

  • We had lots of flexibility when it came to suggesting the creation of new video or gifs that would be used within the page. Motion was critical along with telling a visual story.

  • Calling out each of the individual features for the oven was important, but we had to find balance between other Breville offerings.

  • Because the new oven had Bluetooth connectivity, it was important to show use cases that could be shown along side a phone.

  • Lastly we wanted to utilize and explore options for Parallax scrolling and sticky elements that could be used to help intuitively tell the product story.

We also did some internal competitive analysis in order to see who was doing what in the current space.

As Breville was a long term client of ours, we were able to work in much higher fidelity wires.

Autopilot

One of the bigger features offered by their new oven was Autopilot. An option that did the work for you when it came to timing, temperatures, and other stages of cooking.

We wanted a gif showing the stages of autopilot along side a item that would be normally tough to bake. This would help demonstrate how easy the product was to use as well as showing that the Oven + App came with many different recipes pre programed in.

Phone App

The app was the other big ticket item that we wanted to showcase on this new landing page. This module not only talked more about Autopilot and its abilities, it also talked about all of the available recipes through Chefsteps that could be accessed through their app. This section was meant to use parallax scrolling, changing out the images and text as the user moved through the page.
